studio sum is a Chicago-based graphic design studio founded in 2023 by Ashley Ryann, owner and creative director. With a practice rooted in collaboration, clarity, and cultural awareness, studio sum specializes in building and evolving brand aesthetics for clients across the arts, hospitality, and cultural sectors. From full-scale brand identity systems and exhibition graphics to menus, publications, packaging, and environmental signage.

Ashley spent nearly a decade working alongside friend and collaborator Jason Pickleman at JNL, where she developed a deep respect for design that is conceptually rigorous and visually concise. At studio sum, she continues that legacy with a sharp eye and a generous process, helping institutions and individuals shape visual languages that reflect their voice, values, and context.
